Show me your compact pedalboard setup

B37CE005-4DED-4F31-8466-568F243C5D24.jpeg
Just played an instrumental wedding gig with my compact board

Boss TU-3 --> EHX Small Stone --> Ibanez CS Mini
Powered by a Voodoo lab Pedal Power 2 on a Pedaltrain Jr.

For another band I just take the tuner off and daisy chain that with an old ibanez eq pedal.

Cool setup, i also have the mxr M80 and the alpha omega, I'd like to hear your thoughts about them together.. What runs into what first? And why combining them? Also I'm thinking of getting the spectracomp, what do you think? Thanks

The signal chain is, Line 6 G 50 - Darkglass AO - Spectracomp - Boss ME 30 - MXR.
Used together because well...I like the sounds I'm getting.
First the AO is set, lows and highs cut and the mid up just a little so that I'm driving the distortion with a mid bump. Both switches then engaged. And it's before the compression to keep the ability to dig in or play light for more/less drive. If the AO were after the compressor it becomes more of a full on disrortion all the time, depending on how hard the compressor is hitting of course.
The Spectracomp is usually running the Captain East print. Tho I've run into certain rooms that are particularly boomy and if the low cut filter sucks too much beef out before the boom goes I switch to the Nielson Comp and tweek from there.
The Spectracomp is awesome by the way!
The ME 30 has another bump in the mids on the EQ that is always on as is the noise supressor. It's my tuner as well.
Then the MXR again with the low and high cut and mid up a little, and the color switch engaged.
Only thing I ever step on is the Boss for tuning. Both final lines come from the MXR. DI to FOH and 1/4 to Mesa D800+ with the Subway 115.
The Spectracomp is quite versatile. If you don't know your way around compression, test out tone prints while dialing the knob up and down to get an idea of it's range and you should be able to find one that works for you pretty quick. And if your daring open up the editor and be overwhelmed by the 36 or 38 (I forget) controls!

Here’s my latest iteration:

It is pretty much just the basics: compressor to tuner to line selector that blends or loops in/out the Zoom 60b, and then a bit of clean boost at the end when I need either a bit more volume or to give my Tobias with a MM pickup a bit more midrange grind to match my Fenders. Had separate distortions, chorus, flange, and delay pedals, but I use them infrequently enough that the 60b does more than well enough with all that to not miss the big board. Love the pedal and love the compact footprint.

Some interest above in the Boss WL-20, so I’ll note that I’m loving mine. Just got it from Sweetwater 2 weeks ago, and have done 4 rehearsals and 2 gigs with it. No problems with interference at all, even running two of them at the same time (guitarist thought is was cool, and so got one). I went for the “cable tone” one that imitates the high end rolloff of a 10’ cable. Don’t know about that, but I did some test recordings with the WL and with a cable, and couldn’t tell much difference between them in headphones or my nearfields. Certainly nothing you’d hear live. And I ended up getting the 20 rather than the 50 so that I can use it on the many occasions I don’t use my pedalboard. The took the best parts of the Line 6 relay and made it stage-ready (Micro-USB power? Really? And the form factor of that receiver...).

And before I had the wireless, I had made a skinny switch pedal that sat to the right of the compressor. Removed that, and left the space to protect the WL from getting busted off by a wayward foot.
