Grote Hofner club bass clone. $200 off Amazon, all I’ve done to it is slap this vinyl racing stripe on it and file the nut slots to fit the roto 77s on it.

I had a couple un-modded cheapies but I sold them. TMB-30 and a Squier VM Jag SS. Both were very well made but I already have a Fender Mustang LE and one PJ is enough for me.

My stealth black Harley Benton MB 4 was around $150 including shipping when I bought it. Haven’t done a thing to it, it even has the same set of strings it shipped with. Plays great, and sounds great.

It might not be considered a "cheapie" for some, but I have a stock 2018 Fender Player P that I absolutely love. A while ago I got bored and decided to mod it with a GZR P set (which is a great pickup, don't get me wrong) and a high mass bridge. It killed what was a great sounding bass, so I reverted back to stock and it sang again! Don't try fix it if it ain't broke was the lesson for me

I'm guilty of the same. Got a Player P and immediately started thinking of mods but then came to my senses. I bought it because I loved how it felt and sounded stock, so best to leave well enough alone.

Yessir. Strings and needed repairs don't count as "mods" in my book. Though I do question anyone that leaves the plastic on the pickguard. That might be too unmodded.

HA!! Guess I need a newer photo. That photo is from the day it arrived, a few months ago. You can be sure the plastic is gone now!!!

the neck is only 20mm front to back at the first and 21mm at the 12th. Possibly the shallowest neck I've ever played. I bought it with half a mind to fix and flip it but having made it playable it is fast becoming a guilty pleasure

The nut is a full 1.75" but it feels like playing air guitar.
