Those mouse 30's are something else... They look like you are playing a 70's thinline tele but sound like a DB.

I'm still torn between a mouse and a Deep 5. I'm a big guy so I'm afraid that the mouse may be a bit 'awkward' for me but I'm after a DBish sound and I get the feeling that the mouse will get me closer to it than the deep 5 (and also save me a buck).

I should note that it was Joe Smithberger's Mouse that gave me my Mouse GAS, so credit (blame?) should go to Joe. :D

My MB2 4 string has uneven volume across strings. The G string is notably softer than the other strings. I spoke to Rob, who was most helpful and responsive, and recommended that I remove the saddle, polish it with some fine sand paper and fine steel wool, and reseat it.

Acoustically, the volume is completely even, and so it does seem that the issue is transmission to the bridge. I used a Q-tip to try to remove any residue (from cocobolo) in the saddle groove, and that didn't help. Rob's last suggestions was that I bisect the saddle with a scalpel or something similarm to allow the top half to vibrate more freely. I hate the idea of doing this, however, and though I'd ask if any of you have had this happen and been able to solve it.

Just reading this thread today came across your post. i had the same problem on my MB2 5. i sent it back to Rob and what he described was what he did. No problems since.

Really nice Mouse - if I ever find myself having to order another one, I want to go as basic as possible as well....this instrument looks fantastic, and the Goncalo Alves pieces set everything off beautifully.

My neck is a tad bit different as it will be a real hunk of wood made to my spec. See the massiveness of the neck's profile from the side :)

The bass is going to have that vintage butterscotch and the wood on the neck (not the fretboard of course) will match when it's done.

Currently, the neck is getting the fingerboard radiused and the frets put in.

Isn't that rosewood amazing with the spider webbing?

The headstock is bigger than the MB-2, but same essential RA shape.

I like the headstock ... I mean, it is supposed to be a P-style bass, but it still retains that RAness about it. He intentionally made it a bit beefier, and did mention that in context of the bass it looks fine even though it is bigger than usual.

I'm excited - these are the first pics related to my bass. He did send some of the prototype bodies he was working on awhile back as well.

I only saw one "P" on his workbench, although others may have been floating around in his shop, which btw is an amazing space. So if the one I saw is indeed yours, then, no the butterscotch has not been applied yet. I saw the neck and body, both in pre-finish states. Rob slid the neck into the neck pocket, which was VERY tight, and had me hold the bass in playing position while he took a few steps back to take a look at it from that perspective. He seemed really enthusiastic about the neck, and pointed out the straight grain in the quartersawn neck and the chimey brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Should be a smoking bass.
