I'll be in Japan in May ... maybe I'll check that place out :)
If you'll be in the Tokyo area some of my favorite station stops for music stores are Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Yokohama and Ochanomizu.

Unfortunately they can be difficult to find in any location other than Ochanomizu but if you're persistent you'll find someone to direct you. Yokohama is possibly the most difficult.

The Bass Centre is in Ochanomizu, and must stop for any bassist.

I know Tokyo a little - was there 4 years ago, so if you have any specific addresses and recommendations, PM me ...

beautiful. Is it a passive model?

i've noticed bluegrass guys dont trust anything without an f-hole (i'd always assumed it was just where they stashed their "tobacco")

I think most of the deeps do have a pre, but yeah this is passive. Actually, it looks a LOT like my dobro players dobro, which is kinda cool. I had the eminence eub, no one dug it (except that banjo player, who does a fair bit of methany on electric banjo ;) ). Saying I need to get a doghouse, but the singer also said a couple of people were using rob allens and getting great sounds.

Sold the eub, got this, got a 42 kay bass, no one is saying anything now ;) And honestly, fans and the fellas are digging the lines I am puling of on this. When we hit the senior center, probably not so much.

I am rocking this deep 5 now. Amazing bass. My bluegrass buddies actually dig it. I think the f hole makes all the diffrerence with them ;)

Absolutely beautiful. Yes, this is the one I'm gassing for (although I'm thinking 4 and unlined). You know, the F hole has me hooked too. I know that physics-wise, it would have no effect on the sound but psychologically, I know it'll "feel" more acoustic. I play Jazz standards and bossa/pop and I see the look of disappointment when I don't show up with the DB but I think you're right, the looks of a bigger bass with an F hole would help them get over it.

you know, sad but true visuals play a little bit in a performance. Studio recordings no so much, though you can easily get a precision to fit right in. But you know just as badly as people want to see you play a Fender sometimes, they want to see something they can relate to in an all acoustic setting.

That said, I think this clearly shows how similar this thing looks to some of the other acoustic instrument on stage, although kinda tough to see both F holes in the pic.

I have to say that I really dig your music! Especially the monkey stuff! Very nice indeed.

Got the word from Rob - the P should ship this week. It may wait a bit only because I'm trying to time it so I'm home to sign for it. :)

I was also weak - I was in the Atlanta Bass Gallery today and played the Takamine TB10. Wow! So I'll do a Deep 4 vs. TB10 shootout. The TB10 killed my Mouse GAS for now.

You're killing me with the wait.;)

So the Takamine is a Mouse gas buster, this I have to hear. Look forward to both pics and clips. Thanks.

Killing you? How about the guy who actually is getting the bass. No sympathy for me? :crying: lol

For me it was. Loved the Mouse I played at Bass NW, but the Takamine was like it was made for me. Perfect neck (nice and thick), can be played like an upright, etc. Sounded (again, in the store - not a comparison with my RA Deep 4) closer to an upright. Love the RA still - but this was also different enough than another RA bass, so it'll be fun to have in the collection.

I'll let you guys know how it compares after it gets home (I'm on the road and they're shipping it to me)
