Somebody bought a mint Deep 5 for 550 pounds? $1100? this is some sort of hallucination. The myrtle top is beautiful.

Please tell me its a scam. please? the bass + a ticket to the UK to pick it up is still bargain at that price.

I think it's genuine. The guys been trying to sell it for some time with a reserve somewhere over the 1000 pound mark. I exchanged emails with him when he was selling his MB2, which was the same time he had just bought the deep 5.

If I had any idea it would go for that price I would have paid more attention to the auction.

Hope it's gone to somebody who appreciates it.

Whats the deal on the Rob Allen P bass?

He sent me an update today, actually. It's almost ready to assemble. He's finishing the work on the finish which will be a few more days. Can't share pics of the prototype of the finished body with everything on it that I've seen (at Rob's request), but it looks great. It's clean, classy, and cool. Both very P looking, yet modern at the same time. I love what he did with the bridge (without giving anything away).

My bass will also be different than the final design which he'll use for the production ones since I requested a bit beefier and slightly less sculpted body.

So it really is close at this point. I think that if you like a P bass, you'll love Rob's take on it. Can't wait to play it!

Another update - Rob's finally done with the butterscotch finish. He's sending some pics to me and I need to decide if I want it all shiny and new looking or a bit more buffed and vintage looking. So once the clear coat dries and such in a few days, he can finish assembly and it's done! Woo hoo!

Tell Rob we're all waiting for the photos!

I can tell you my final body looks great and better than the unfinished prototypes I saw. I didn't see angles, but the less contouring works for me (i.e. a bit "chunkier"). The main butterscotch is going to remain more shiny instead of buffed and vintage. If it sounds even as remotely good as it looks (and I know it will), it's going to be a great instrument.

Here it is, I had posted elsewhere and I was getting the nudge to post here. Sorry, I am new, and still having a magical mystery tour navigating the postings on here.

I picked out the wood with Rob in Santa Barbara, it is both flamed and spalted. it has the drop D tuner and the LED's in the side of the fingerboard. Ebony fingerboard as you can see. She is a honey.

The LEDs take the cake! Its a great addition to the RA's posted on the site. Very original. Welcome boyohboy.

Thought I had posted my baby but I guess not...so...here it is. Picked it up from Club Bass end of last year.

Loving this thing...

I played that bass at the shop before it found its home, and it really is spectacular. I feel it has something my MB-2 4 does not - I don't know if it's the longer scale, extra mass of the wood, or just random but it sounds huge! I was happy to see it marked sold on the site, knowing someone would be really happy
