Top: Book-matched Bluegum w/matching veneered headstock(s)

Right (lower) neck: Birdseye maple, Cocobolo board, Rotosound tapes
(maybe Galli's in the future), Fishman Matrix Natural II piezo

Left (upper) neck: old-growth Mahogany, Macassar Ebony board,
TI Acousticores, Fishman Matrix Natural I piezo

I don't think they're associated with LaBella, i.e., Galli is its own company

Actually...I've got another Rob Allen :rolleyes:. It's a single neck, but it's very
much like the lower neck of the double: swamp ash, bluegum, etc. I put
some Galli tapes on it to replace Status-Graphite tapes, which replaced
Rotosound tapes :eyebrow:. I love the upright "thuddiness" of the Roto's, but
was having a BIG problem getting consistent sets. The Galli's are very
close to the Roto's tone AND there are no rattling or intonation issues

Thanks, I bet it sounds awesome! What tonal differences do you notice between the Matrix Natural I and II piezos?:)

I chose them based on how I was having the bass built and the
description from the Fishman site. I already knew the Natural II gave
a good, balanced response across all four strings, based on my single R/A

I tried some Acousticores on my single and noticed the tone was little...light.
I knew the single had a Natural II. Then I noticed this from the Fishman site:

...will benefit from the slight bass boost in the Natural I preamp...

Rob was installing a piezo for the upper neck anyways, so I asked him
to put in the Natural I vs. a Natural II. It gives the normally "zingy"
Acousticores a liitle more oomph and...body, for lack of a better term

Here's mine. I just took delivery of this a couple weeks ago (late October 2007). Nothing exotic or out of the ordinary, I wanted a basic MB-2 with the standard curly maple top. Had to wait 8 weeks for it to be built up, since my local dealer only stocked exotic topped MB-2's. (Yeah, sucks to like in NYC, eh?)

But the really special thing about this bass is that my wife gave it to me as a gift for our 5th anniversary! I'd been jonesing for an MB-2 for ages, mentioned it to her as a joke two years ago when she asked what I wanted for my birthday but assumed she dismissed the whole idea (since I'm sure she couldn't name one of my instruments or even recognize them on sight)

...and then the morning of our anniversary this year she hands me a set of Labella 760N strings and says "meet me after work so I can buy you something to put these on."

What a gal!

Oh, uh, yeah, and what a bass!
