Show us the Rob Allen basses!

Let's see the bass....is this another blond deep 5?

Here is a pic of the thumb rest I made for mine. It is a piece of 1/2 round Home Depot trim held on by double sided Scotch tape, so no worries!

Can you get a deep 5 with out the f hole? Or can you get a mouse at a 35 inch scale?

I don't think Rob would do a 35" scale Mouse because it would be horribly unabalanced. If Gibson has taught us anything, it's that guitar sized bodies make for a neck-diving bass. Besides, I don't know if he'd be able to offer you a hardshell case without having to get a custom form-fitted flight case, which wouldn't be cheap.

I'd think a Deep 5 without the F-hole would be easy.

Rob is one of those builders where literally every bass he makes looks like 'the one!' I mean, every single bass on this thread (and any other Rob Allens I have seen in person or in photos) are mind-blowingly beautiful, yet each has it unique aesthetic! Man, what an artist! :)

Here's my Mouse, in some outside shots:

The 'true' color shading is somewhere between those two sets of photos.

Let me say again how much I love this instrument! I have been fortunate enough to have seen/played a number of great instruments, and this Mouse is one of the most grin-inducing basses I have ever encountered!

Oh, and I blame (credit!) Joe Smithberger for pushing me over the edge to get a Mouse! :D

I seem to have missed this thread, which is strange, considering how much I love my Allen.

I can't find the pics I had of it, so for now you'll just have to look at the more "artsy" shot in my avatar. It does give you an idea of the figuring in the top and the colour contrast in the fingerboard, but nowhere near the beauty of the real thing. I'm not so good with a camera anyway :hmm:
