The wood is a very old piece of spalted rosewood (i believe Rob got from an estate sale).

BTW if you're interested in getting a mouse, talk to Spade2You....he's trying to get enough folks together who want a 5 string version Mouse. If enough orders come in, Rob will tool up to make them.

Hell, I got my Mouse 30 and had GAS to want another one! I'm trying to get a 5 string version.

It wouldn't really change the tooling to have one in the batch be strung E-C, since that would probably just be a nut/bridge thing, right?

If so, I might be interested in getting in on that depending on the cost.

No kidding, spade2you. That extended fretboard/thumbrest is great. I glued a thumbrest on my MB-2, but this one on the mouse is just perfectly comfortable. Hats off and thanks to spade2you, who came up with this idea.

You are too kind!! I kinda borrowed the idea from another boutique bass that had an extended fingerboard, but more for decoration. For years I had an Adamas, which was along the same lines, albeit backwards.

On top of serving as a thumb rest, it kinda puts your right hand in a really useful position for some ABG hybrid tones. The cool thing was that Rob was able to more/less guess what I wanted before I had to do some photoshop work. I saw the first draft, which was ok, but figured out how to throw in an artistic arc to give it some attitude.

No Mouse should be without this extension or the hipshot d-tuner!!!

I took it to an audition and impressed everyone with the tones and killer looks. I need another one soon!!!
