We probably posted this one already, but I wanted to bump the thread to see what else might surface. There have been some really cool basses posted here.
In the bass pictured below the third pickup is a mudbucker under the PG. You can see the poles poking through near the neck heel.

Thanks Blue! Those were taken by Sweetwater Sound in Ft Wayne Indiana. Jeff Babicz suggested we get professional photos taken and it turned out to be a great idea. Sweetwater shoots photos of every guitar that comes through their door. Several hundred per day. They donate the photography work on our charity builds. I thought I posted them already, but maybe not. I'll post a couple more of them. This thread is 50 pages long now so I don't want to go hunting for them.
What's the neck wood on that bass? (I don't want to go digging either.) And did you finish it with anything?

Sorry if this is a duplicate. Not sure if I posted these before. This one was donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They auctioned it at their annual black tie fundraiser for $3,000. There are two build threads elsewhere on talkbass. One was shut down by an overzealous moderator who thought we were a business rather than two guys helping out charities on the side. The other thread has photos through to completion.

The neck is from Allparts and was stained black and finished with tung oil. The fingerboard is ebony and is unfinished. If we do another, I would probably go all maple and stain it like we did on the backside of this one. Cutting the slot in the ebony was an absolute nightmare for our friends at Axetreme Creations because the ebony is so hard.

Thanks! We had a lot of help on the Navy Bass. Axetreme Creations played a huge part on the pickguard details and the neck inlays.
All finished:
This was an awesome build. I found the unloaded body on eBay and I was the blessed beneficiary of being able to buy it. I hadn't seen this completed build until today. Coincidentally, the final build I'm working on will look very close with the following differences - Fender Super 55 split coil pickups with black covers and Gotoh 201 bridge. Had a chance to reach out to thisSNsucks to find out about the preamps and found one of the preamps that finally ended up on the bass which was a Spector Tonepump 2band preamp. Not planning to do any selections for parallel vs series. The bass currently is put together with all of the passive electronics in place and as thisSNsucks mentioned it plays really well as passive. Not hearing the scooped sound that thisSNsucks got probably due to the differences between the Ultra Jazz that were originally in the bass and the Fender Super 55's I'm using. Not in a hurry to add the preamp yet as I'm really enjoying the passive tones and the ability to play one, two or three pickups at a time with no hum...dead quiet. I'll post pics once it's all done and will look nearly identical to thisSNsucks bass pics above (except for the differences noted previously). Great job with the routings and spray shielding thisSNsucks...very clean. Trying to keep the dream alive.....
I love those Fender Super 55 pickups, great choice. That's going to look sharp with the black pickups. Pictures!
Here's a pic of the bass as it stands today. Will be adding a tonestyler and the active preamp sometime in the future.....
