I would love to see some designs or work already done.

My GF really wants me to get a big old bass cleff on my shoulder or chest - but I'm an old man - - isn't anyone over 40 getting a tat kinda... well, lame?

still getting em 30 years and still going .im 58 now and i have both sleeves and chest and back pieces. NO they are not lame after 40.

I really don't think there is anything wrong with the k5 Fieldy tat. Just a matter of taste. I do think this person should put some more tattoos around it though.

Don't feel like taking a pic right now (will eventually when it's finished) I have a bass leaning on a practice amp with the tabs for "panic switch" underneath.

I don't know about the Fieldy tattoo. I was young and got a couple stupid ink jobs from some questionable places around Boulder, CO. I have a Grateful Dead Steal your Face on my inner biceps that was my first. I remember waking up the next day and seeing all the red & blue ink all over my white sheets and thought I had killed a smurf. Even though its badly done, and has patches where the ink bled out & not to mention its not a true circle or that the lightning bolt is done wrong, it was my first and what I have always wanted. From what I remember through the haze of alcohol it hurt, bad. he kept yelling that I was moving, from what friends told me, I was passing out in the chair. Since then I have many more, & many more that look much MUCH better. But, people always comment on the steely, it was a building block. People ask, whats it mean, I tell them its a symbol to not be a dumb ass. What I guess I mean by all that is, to each his own, give him credit for actually stepping out of the box and getting something that isn't on the flash wall. BuddyChrist, respect your tribute and your guts to show it hear where opinions are a dime a dozen.
