Show Us Your Christmas Basses and Gear!!

My wife and I decided to really cut back on each other this year. We just bought some expensive new appliances and are going to New York for a few days in Feb (to pick up a custom bass. :hyper:).

I got 2 bass books from my wife (The Fretless Bass and The Funky Bass Book) and a $50 music store gift card from my inlaws. Basically that is all I got beyond a couple of other books from my kids.

I am very happy with the books though. I have two teenage boys and a 1year old daughter... I get more excited watching them get excited over their cool gifts than me getting anything. I buy what I want generally and how many bad ties, pyjama bottoms and cuff links does a guy need?:D

Oh, and I bought myself a Minnie poweramp 2 weeks ago too. That is my Christmas gift to myself!

Well, here's mine. Not really a Christmas bass as it was ordered in May. But it arrived Monday, so it's a Christmas bass to me.

Dingwall Super P5 with reverse P PU's. It is thunderous.

I will say, that for 2011, and 2012 Christmases, I got a Fender American Deluxe P, (2011), and a Fender American Deluxe J, (2012), but since I am Santa Clause, it's not like I woke up Christmas morning, and found them under the tree. (I ordered, and paid for them myself).

I am not a Christian, but I do enthusiastically, and with great joy celebrate the holiday with the idea that it is far better to give, than it is to receive. The kids, and grandkids were all happy, and so was I.

Wife got me a really handy bass scale reference book, a couple bass mags and a $50.00 gift card to Guitar Center:)

Now I did take her into my local Guitar Center's Platinum room and showed her the 1966 Fender Jazz Bass in black with matching black headstock. I mean...I made sure she knew which one I liked. It did not show up under the tree?!?
Not sure why...could it have been the $7,000.00 price tag?

My wife and I don't buy each other gifts. We focus on her kids (grown and married) and the grandchildren. The presents thing is for us for the kids. We are happy enough with each other and our lives. We have all we need, and most of what we want. What we want, we probably don't need. We are content and satisfied.

I do really get into what Christmas is about. I played at the Christmas Eve church services and it was wonderful.

I'm pretty satisfied with my equipment. There is nothing I'm jonesing for. What I'd still like to get isn't financially possible, but it's fun to dream. I love what I have and have finally learned to enjoy what I have and my GAS problem has greatly diminished as I start to look realistically at my future as a bass player in my 60's and beyond.

If I want something else, I'll likely build it. Maybe turn that Squier Pro Tone V I never use into a 10 string. That would be fun.
