Here's mine. The pickups are Dimarzio DP's in larger housings. The neck pickup is slightly more towards the neck, approx. in 60's Thunderbird position.

The pickup compared to MM -style pickups:

How did you get the pickups in the larger housing? Is that something that Dimarzio offers or did you do some kind of customization?

Thanks,
The D,G split of the mid pick up is in the standard position.
The gap between the pick ups, is where the E,A side would normally be.
The idea was to get a nice beefy sound, without the thin nasally high-end bridge tones.

Great idea! It's basically like Lee Sklar's bass except the bridge (or mid) pickup is one coil's distance closer to the neck.
Got any soundclips?

Ooh, I love this configuration! I'd like a 3-way switch to select between pairs of coils.

The center 2 coils look really close to the Music Man Stingray pickup location...
I played around with different pickup locations on my test bass before i put this one together and clustering them in that spot was definitely the best area to my ears. The middle of the cluster is very close to a stingray. I did play around with pickup switching for a bit but in the end all on at full was the sound I like. I do have a volume for each set and a phase reverse on one of them, oh and a tone control that I really dont use:)
