Show us your FenderBirds/Exploders!!!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by GeoffByrne, Mar 30, 2009.

  1. I've just been given a left-handed P-Bass neck in Maple. I'll reverse the nut (or install a new one) to make it a Reverse Headstock Right Hander - fine distinction, but.....:)

    Anywhoo - I'm thinking of a Thunderbird or an Exploder if I can pick up a suitable body (probably Epiphone for either).

    Any hints, tips, general pearls of wisdom for this - and if you've done it, or caused it to be done, let's see the pics!!!

    :hyper:

    I'm just waiting on a tracing of an Explorer so I can start one, but my neck is righty.

    Thank you Sir. Since I'm here I may as well contribute a photo. Perhaps folks have seen this one before? I like to keep around because it inspires me to put one of these together someday.

    Wow!
    Nice bass!

    What kind of bridge is that?

    And what about the pickups?

    Is there too much neck dive?

    Sorry for so many questions!

    It's not my bass so I can't really tell you with any accuracy, but from the looks of it, the bridge & pup's are from a 60's T-bird.

    Some of you have seen these before so just for the OP;
    An Epi body and an inexpensive lefty J neck, it becomes a much easier project if you modify the heel of the neck rather than the pocket of the body - Good luck :)
