Javier from Sinobas came up with a design for me, so when money comes back I'll order one and see how it sounds. Will be very powerful for a single 112. He's a really special guy doing something like this if he doesn't offer what you want already.
Bumping this up as I've been chatting back and forth with Martin. Going to put in an order for a 32" scale 5 string that I will use as my general work bass. Tired of fighting with heavy, awkward basses that are wrecking my back. This will be real simple...alder body/no top, maple neck, probably a pau ferro board, narrow spacing, two Nordstrand Zen Blades and passive. It's difficult to spend money on not a 6 string bass, but I need something more comfortable for jobs that pay for me not to play up high. Happy to support my friend Martin again with this. Will be putting up a couple of basses for sale to help cover the cost. This is my final bigger gear purchase while I have the funds. Now to keep practicing!
Whatcha selling? My 32” 5 string is awesome! I have a Delano big pole p pick up sitting around just waiting for a similar build as you mentioned. I envision a Leo for that, down the road a bit.
Yes! Also, There is something about the wenge neck & Fretboard with the Seymour Duncan MM pickup that is magical. At some point I need to do a video. It really has a strong voice for solo bass, but also cuts through the mix very well in a band setting.
Is it strung with a low B? How's the low B with the 32" scale? I want a big round sound.

Could you share a video of you playing some triple stops/chords on your hollow fretted 6? Like some minor, major, and dominant sevenths up the neck a bit? It can be very simple, actually slower is better for hearing the tone. Please and thank you.

As an aside...if anyone has been curious about a headless bass...you may want to contact Martin....he may be cooking up something new.
Just realized I forgot to mention that I won't be getting a 5 string....going to wait a bit. When I can sell my upright I'll put in an order for a headless 6 that bridges the gap between my long standing Ristola 6 string and my semi hollow from Martin. Chambered, and I may still go with the 32" scale for something a little different. Didn't want to spend the money on a bass that won't be used for creative music, which is my focus.
..and waiting to hear back from Nordstrand about a custom pickup for the fretless. If they say yes it'll be really special.

It's not in the immediate future, but a 6 string, 32" scale, and other features unknown. My current six is meaty and full and I want something sweeter/softer sounding but still clear, whether it's with magnetic pickups passive or piezos. Headless is very appealing, as is hollow/semihollow if the sound is right. If it's too out there, a super jazz setup with a preamp is versatile and safe, and I can use pedals (especially reverb) to get what I'm after.
For sweeter, softer and clear I would suggest passive. The shorter scale will help as well. Less fundamental to the note. Will give you a warmer sound. Mahogany body, and I'd suggest Martin's hybrid neck that has a softer wood for the center. Will get you sound clips of my semi hollow for sure.
Thanks. My current one (which I'm keeping for sure) just volume/blend with soapbar pickups and a mahogany body (it's also 32" scale). I'm a bit hesitant to go passive if I use magnetic pickups for this next hypothetical bass, mostly because I can see myself wanting to cut out some upper midrange without killing the highs. I really like my current 6, but I want this next one to have a different vibe. But, you can do a lot with the tone between technique and blending two pickups. Honestly, at this point, I'd trust whatever Martin suggests since he knows my other instruments so well. We'll see.
