I like the idea of it looking acoustic guitar like, kind of like your fretless....

That's one of the things I love about the top of my fretless. I can fit my electric right in with an acoustic band and no one would be any the wiser.

Hawaiian Mango....I told Martin to use it if it's up to snuff...otherwise we'll go with the red cedar. Poor Martin got way too many messages about tops from me. Lol

None of these are from Martin. A good friend had gotten a couple of tops that were used on basses from www.tonewood.com, and that's where I found all of these. I decided to get something a bit more visually interesting, and they take great photos so I could photoshop them like this. Made it easier to see what they'd look like in the end.

That's a good question. I don't know. Because this isn't wood tha he has himself, I told him to use the red cedar if he doesn't think the Mango is high quality...but being tha this isn't a acoustic instrument I think it'll work just fine.
