Show us your Martin Keith Basses

That is WIDEST nut width I've ever seen!!

It is wide, but not as wide as it looks because it’s strung E-F (and 32” scale). It’s an incredible sounding bass, but my next one will be a touch narrower at the nut (it’s about 18mm at the bridge, which is great for me) and lighter. Still, I’m keeping it because it plays so well and sounds so good.

Im a couple months out from delivery of my dream fretless, cant wait for this!

Elfin semi acoustic (bent sides) fretless 6 string
Spruce top
Flame maple sides and back
Antique violin satin finish
hybrid spruce/walnut/carbon neck
figured Macassar ebony lined board
34" scale
17 mm spacing
narrow nut to match narrow bridge spacing
NOS Lane Poor dual coil pups
Graph Tech piezo saddles
Bart NTMB-FL and Piezo buffer circuit

A couple other fun things TBA/TBD but man, this is the bass Ive been dreaming about, for the singing fretless punchy tone, as well as the big blooming acoustic tone. The fact that Martin was able to find me an unused set of Lane Poor 6 string pups is outrageous. I called everyone I knew looking for a set, including David King, Brian Barrett, Justin Kennedy (the guys I knew who were big into them back in the day) and they all were like, 'you and me both, keep dreaming'. And then Martin surprised me with sourcing them. Amazing, cant imagine a better pup for this bass.

Just got word from Martin that my bass will be ready to ship early next week! I’m sure it will be incredible, and I’m so excited…

Except I’m getting ready to head off in a week and a half to Florida for 8 days on my wedding/honeymoon trip!

So, depending on how long Martin thinks shipping will take, I may need to ask him to delay sending it until we get back…:woot:

Had another note from Martin, and it looks like I should be able to have it before I leave town!

My wife is happy to hear that, if only so that we can enjoy our trip without me being in a hurry to get home! :roflmao:

Good to know I can count on you! :D

What is this "life stuff beyond basses" that you're referring to? :roflmao:

Seriously, I hope Martin enjoyed working on it as much as I will enjoy playing it, but I'm glad he's having time away from the shop, too!

So happy to see Martin getting more basses into the world. I know he's been super busy with life stuff beyond basses.

Beyond excited for you, Mike!!

I've heard rumors that sometimes people "do things" that aren't music related....yeah....super weird, I know! Lots of funny folks on the world

:rollno::bawl:

Accidentally gave Martin the wrong street number (the number for my old house, not my current apartment), so delivery has been delayed until UPS can give it another shot with the corrected address...

Too many numbers floating around in my head these days--I'm just lucky that the address I gave him didn't actually exist!
