I think he scored a set for himself too! Or at least I hope so. Serious late 90s bass unobtanium
Is Martin going to do the typical violin pin-striping around the perimeter?

Like the F Bass AC purfling? I’m not sure, I did settle on black (vs cream) binding.

I'm very excited to tell everyone that Martin and I finalized our build and I've got a deposit on a new bass! Build time is estimated at 6-7 months. Here are the specs.
I'm a tad excited
- 6 string fretted BEADGC
- New intermediate sized Elfin shape (between the Elfin and Elfin Plus)
- Headless with black Hipshot hardware
- 19 mm spacing, 34.5" scale, 24 frets
- Swamp ash body, poplar burl top, black accent veneer, with a transparent white finish on the top and grain filling on the ash
- Maple neck with wenge center stripe
- Wenge or ebony fretboard (we'll decide as the build moves on based on a few factors), custom fretboard inlays
- Luminlay blue side dots
- Two Aguilar Super Doubles in a wooden ramp with exposed poles
- Passive with volume, tone, and a pickup and coil selection system

Both of my Elfin 5s have (I am assuming) the same "pickup and coil selection system". If so, it is very versatile.
Yes I’m thinking you’re right, as Martin mentioned he’s done it on several basses. I’ve got a Dingwall 4 way selector on two different basses with dual pickups and dual coils, so I’m expecting it will work something like that.
Oh, mine are not like that. My basses have a volume, pan, and tone controls. The Tone control has a push/pull switch on it. When the Tone control is in the down position the two Citron humbucking pickups work like one would expect when turning the Pan control. With the Tone control pulled up the Pan control continuously sweeps from the two outer coils (fully CCW) to the two inner coils (fully CW); in the mid detented position all four coils are active as they would be with the Tone control pushed down.

Yeah that's the jist of what he explained to me. I'm looking for the same basic functionality, just via a single rotary control with fixed positions, vs. a continually variable pan. Someone else retrofitted it on my Keith fretless and I love it

Mine should be going into paint/have gone into paint this week. I can’t wait.
I’ve been playing this 32” semi hollow elfin 6 string with labella tapes (E-F) for a couple weeks now and am just smitten with it. It just came back from a setup and plays and sounds perfect. Amazing instrument, I’m feeling very lucky to be about to have a pair of martins hollow 6’ers.

I just got an email from Martin with some top options, looks like we might go with buckeye burl instead of poplar. I'm trying to get a "surface of the moon" vibe with the burl and transparent white finish, and he's picked out some cool options.
