You've got a bunch of new parts that you need to deal with. I doubt the ROI would be worth the hassle.
As for the single bridge, you could conceivably do the split bridge like he did on the Pino Palladino 5-string (E-C) custom.

I got my Mouse today. All I can say is wow.
Having the chance to play a Mouse last year at a GTG I thought I knew what they were about, but maybe because mine is so purty but I'm blown away. In fact, I texted the wife and told her it was too pretty to play. She said, "You paid that much money for a bass, you will play it!" So I came home and followed orders.
I must say, I think I'm going to love 30" scale.
And I see why some of you guys have a Rob Allen "family." The craftsmanship is scary.
Question for other Mice owners: Is the pre powered? Is there a battery under the cavity cover?

Congrats! I know how long you've wanted one. And with the fingerboard extension and F hole to boot!!
How do you like the extended fingerboard? I have to say I'm on the fence about it. My thumb naturally falls further away so I'm not really using it like I though. I think if I order a fretless I probably won't go with it. But I would probably stick with walnut neck. I have gotten used to the F-hole as well...
Actually its kind of decorative in my case. I've always made it a point to "float" my thumb when I'm on the E string and "rest" my thumb on the string above as I go to the higher ones. I tried it and too felt a little cramped with the thumb too close to the E if I used it. But I like the looks of it and considering the other upgrades that I did find important I look on it as a "free gift with purchase."
Regarding the fingerboard extension.... I think they look sweet. But I find myself playing much closer to the bridge on the mouse, and it's natural for me to float my thumb just like I do when I play any other 4 string bass. When I play with my thumb, I play much closer to the neck, in which case I can only imagine the fingerboard extension might get in the way. I did find a fender-style tug bar in the gig bag that looks like it's from the same piece of walnut my top is made out of. Has anyone installed a tug bar, in its traditional position (treble side,) on a Mouse? Does anyone have a fender-style tug bar on the bass side for a thumb rest?
Ironically I think this will be the best feature of the "thumbrest extension" is to provide a landmark for right hand placement. I move quite a bit from the neck for standards when I want that old school walking vibe to toward the bridge for soloing and a more focused sound. I'd be a bit lost with all the nekkid topface to look at. Don't get me wrong, one of the reason's I've always been attracted to RA's is the no pups and the knobs integrated into the bridge. But a guy could loose his way.
Rob used to supply a thumb rest that matches the top wood that you can glue anywhere you want with each bass. I think there is a small upcharge now for it as an option.

I'd love to try the thumbrest extension as it seemed like something I might use if I had one. I generally float my thumb while playing the RA, but I'd love to try playing one with the thumb anchor technique I use with most of my other basses. It probably wouldn't sound as good but I'd like to know how it feels and sounds before I get one of the stick-on thumbrests from Rob.
The stock thumbrests seem a little high to me (I briefly stuck the one that came with Kai's bass on with some tape to get a feel). I'm used to playing 5 string and anchoring on the B most of the time, with a float when I use the B-string. On the Solid 4 I'm using the pickup as an anchor when playing the E. I'm thinking a thumbrest that is about half as high as normal, placed about a half inch above the E string might be about right.
It's more than that. Rob would need to design the body and a bridge for a 5er. He can tweak certain things, but a S5 would be pretty much a design limitation (so-to-speak).
I know Rob has a design for a thumbrest on the S4, but hasn't implemented it yet. From what little he's told me about it, it's a great idea.
My D4 came with two optional thumbrests - a small P-like one and one longer one. Both matched the Koa top.
