Cocobolo semi-lined fingerboard. It has fretlines AND no fretlines! its an unlined, lined bass (goes great with my lined, unlined MB2).

Not sure if the finger rest is going to stay (then again not sure how solid its attached). Gorgeous laminated 34" mahogany neck. Hipshot. Yeow!

Glad you snapped it up before me. :eek: If this had come up before I bought my Mouse, it'd be headed a little north of you.

PSA: My old Mouse, #350, which I sold last February , is up on ebay. BIN is $1600 + $25 shipping. Not a bad price.

Just to be clear, I am not selling this bass. I just thought other RA enthusiasts would like to know. It's a great instrument, I wouldn't have sold it if I didn't have the financial pressure to do so.

I finally got a chance to take a couple of pics of my newest Rob Allen, a custom Deep 4 that I received last week.

It has the same features as my MB-2: fretted, drop-D tuner, no piezo, custom-wind Solid 4 pickup. Woods are different, which is nice for variety and contrast: myrtle top, mahogany neck, brazilian rosewood fingerboard, bridge, and pickup cover.

My theory is that if you put a set of round wounds around a Solid 4 pickup on a fretted Rob Allen they will all have the same tonal quality. My MB-2 sounded exactly like my (your) Solid 4, just slightly fuller and richer in tone, while being lighter in weight.

My Deep 4 sounds very close to both but DEEP! I will tend to use it for rich, deep single note songs and my MB-2 for double-stop and chorded songs.

Rob told me that the Myrtle is hard to photograph as the top can look golden or olive depending on the light. Or it could be my poor photography skills :)

Very nice. Congrats!

I guess my D4 will look a bit similar in terms of the mag pickup, but everything else is different. I can't wait to hear what the blend of piezo + mag may bring.
