LG3005, ash body, mahogany stringer, spalted maple top, ebony FB, Bart 3-band. First bass I've had with a mid control. Rolling onto the bridge pup with some mid boost is sick. I'm not sure on the LG body shape though - with a strap the nut ends up being a long ways away. I might swap it for a Century in which case I'd spec it with a diamondwood board (this was an in-stock bass).

I originally wanted a Roscoe, but settled on my Conklin because neckthrough was a must for me at the time, along with radiused pickup covers. I can see your point on the LG body. I'm too small for most short horn basses.
Dymondwood tends to bring out a Zon like high end, almost a polar opposite of the Rob Allen. My CB has a poly coated fb with Bart P/J pickups and it's also much brighter than my RA basses.
Three band is cool, but sometimes it's fun to play with the different mid frequencies. I tend to use high migh with the bridge and low mid with the neck.

My Shuker artist has a "synthetic" fingerboard: very precise, very nice control.
Doing the epoxy fingerboard on the MB2 resulted in an interesting effect. Added a bit of a harder attack.

I would LOVE to check that out some time when I'm driving through Portland (family lives in Bangor) if you're up to it. Buckdancer's Choice perhaps?
It's possible, but I live on one of the islands and the only way on or off is by ferry. We just entered the "Winter" schedule which means even less ferries

Even after all these years, every time I take one of my Mouse basses out of the case, it's always a 'whew!" experience. Unique and perfect craftsmanship and design!
If a fretted Deep 5 ever came up for sale, I would be in serious trouble
This is a fretted Mouse that I recently acquired through CL. I used to have a fretless MB2 that I never quite bonded with (I'm not much of a fretless player, which I am sure had something to do with it, but it also never felt quite right in my hands). But this little one.....I am in major love with. The feel, the sound,...everything. It has a single piece ash body, and just feels solid. Took it to a recording session yesterday and the engineer and players (none of whom had ever seen or heard of these) just loved how it sounded in the mix.
Now I just can't stop thinking about another one with a magnetic pickup....

Well... both a bad thing (since it isn't mine) and a good thing (since I wish it was mine).
Amazing bass, and I love my fretted Mouse also. That is just a stunning looking instrument. I was in the same boat, loved my fretless model, but just don't have the ears and skill to play it in tune to my satisfaction (and of course, to others' satisfaction!). So, my fretted Mouse was a great compromise that allows me to gig an RA and be in that 'DB-like' tone universe at least somewhat.
Exactly my feeling as well. I also think those tiny mandolin frets have a lot to do with why it feels so easy--they totally help, but don't really get in the way. IMO, a very smart design decision.
Congrats on the new Mouse! I played my fretted mouse for an 'acoustic' set at a local music festival yesterday, and it sounded phenomenal. So much so that the band leader asked me to play it all the time. I've been pleasantly surprised by the fretted version this go around, and don't miss the fretless mouse I had at all. I love that RA manages to maintain the tonal characteristics of the fretless Mouse, and I think that you're right that the tiny frets have a lot to do with it.
That is truly a fantastic bass. Congrats. Thinking of something along the same lines myself - but with a high c string. What wood is it made from? Is the bridge saddle a split type? Wondering what the difference between a fretted Deep and a fretted Mouse would be.I'm still in love with my fretted Deep 5. It's a fantastic bass!
