Ok, just made a couple of changes to my rig and have to show off my set up somewhere...this looks like a good place!

The new pieces are a GK 2001RBP preamp and the Schroeder 1210! I'm excited to try this stuff out on a gig...just need a gig now :(

Wow, that rack case looks very good. Is that a power amp on the bottom of your rack case?

Is that a Behringer compressor? How do you like it?

Yes and Yes. :) Good eyes.

From top to bottom it is:
Furman PL-plus
Ampeg SVP-pro
GK 2001 RBP
Behringer Composer Pro MDX 2200
QSC PLX 2402

The Behringer seems to work fine. No problems ever. I try to set it so that it only compresses when I really dig in or slap. I also use the noise gate when I have the tweeter up and I'm using my carvin which is a noisier bass. It's cheap and it works - can't compare it to the other bands since I've never used them.

The GK should be nice. It is 2 channel. The clean channel is killer good! and the overdrive/distortion channel sounds like it might be useful too. This second channel is more like a pedal distortion sound. It doesn't sound at all like tube overdrive to me, but that's why I have the Ampeg too. I plan to use both pres for different nights/sets depending on what subtle tone differences I want that none of my bandmates can hear anyway!

Can't remember of I posted this here yet......

Pic shows Ashdown ABM 500 EVO head with Mini 48 and Mini15 cabinets (loads of power ,and easy to move around :bassist: )

Hello Johnny!

Nice ABM rig there.
I have same without the mini15, which will be updated some day. My rig sound quite nice with just that mini 4x8 even with 5 string, but I think it will be VERY nice sounding when there´s mini15 under it.

Thanks. I'll be honest, I replaced a Trace Elliot rig - AH500 head, 4 x 10 and 1 x 15 cabs (my back was giving me issues, and I effectively downsized). So I just went with the 4 x 8 and the 1 x 15 - seemed to be swapping like for like.

However, I'd suggest if you can you try out 2 of the 4 x 8 cabinets! I'm beginning to think this is the way I should have went, as, like you I have found the 4 x 8 excellent on it's own with 5 string basses. Whereas, my 1 x 15 on it's own just isn't quite as good - even on the low B

If money wasn't an object ( and it is....'cos it Xmas), I'd maybe ditch my 1 x 15 and get 4 x 8 right now.....

(In fact, I have my eye on an Ashdown 8 x 10 in a local store right now.......damn this GAS!)

The True-Voice Preamp/DI is something I've come out with. You can find info on my site.

The Acoustic Image Slave Amp is coming out at NAMM. This is the Proto-type I am running through its paces, but I must say its quite wonderful. I've used it with a Number of different preamps now and it works wonderfully!!! Its a Very strong 600 watts, thats forsure. Rick does amazing work.... no doubt!!!!
