well here's my rig.

Can you tell us more about your custom tube preamp? Did you build it...who designed it, etc.?

Looks like an Art tube Mic preamp.

Not the one in front, the aluminum half-space chassis in the top left slot in the rack...

well actually that's a levelar tube compressor, but the silver box is my preamp. it was built for me by a local tech. it's pretty much a clone of the clean channel of a peavey delta blues amp with a few minor changes. i know it sounds wierd but it actually sounds really good. i have a pretty bright bass so i use the alesis parametric eq (the black box) to tweak the bass a hair.( it's a new addidtion) my rig doesn't really need any tweaking but it's fun to play with knobs. (my pre has passive tone controls so it's very "natural" sounding) overall i get "my" tone out of it perfecly. not everybody's cup of tea for sure but i'm sure a lot of you would dig it.

i got the idea when i had a groove tubes pre. i would tweak and tweak and never got the right sound. just for sh*** and giggles i hooked up the preamp of my delta blues amp to my rig. i liked it, had my current preamp built, and stuck with it ever since. that was about two years and something like 100 gigs or so. just added the eq two weeks ago.
