Well I did a quick search and did not see an official "Show your" thread ... so ...

Recently picked up an SCB 5 string Quilt top/Alder Body with Quilt fingerboard, Suhr pre with Dimarzio's
Thinking about a couple of changes but no rush, im thoroughly enjoying this one, Sweet!

I thought there was a thread already. Maybe it was for Benavente and LEJ or something?

Here's mine, most beautiful bass I've owned. Killer tone too!

This one was made before the Benavente preamps came out. It has a Suhr preamp that sounds very similar. I don't know if I would call it vintage exactly but it can play all around that area at least. The preamp has a lot of range in all bands and can dial an pretty much whatever you want from major clank to major wool. You can even pull out the volume knob to bypass the preamp but the volume drops so much it's not really practical.

I had Brian at Low End swap in the Benavente preamp and narrow neck pup you see in the closeup pic shortly after I got the bass but I shouldn't have. Currently has the narrow pup and Suhr preamp installed.

IMO the preamp and pickups in this bass kill! :bassist:

carved by Chris out of maple from Gallery Hardwoods (board is acrylized)...

The headstock is the solution of Fenderish 6 string with full sized open gear tuners... Chris did some Strats for NAMM a year or 2 earlier with a very similar shape.

The angle might give is a Reverend look... but I really don't think it does.

I see, I have the Suhr pre so I know what you mean, it does play around the vintage thing, I can get a modernish take on the classic fender J tones that I love so much. I may eventually try a new pre though I think I can get closer to the "vintage" tones I always gravitate to, BUT as is the bass sounds very very nice, you used the word "Wool" thats it!

I dig the Suhr preamp a lot... both my Benavente have one. The fretted 5 was upgraded from an earlier Benavente Pre (Demeter was talked about). That bass has Dimarzios too... the fretless has a dual coil also made by John Suhr. The fretless also has a series/parallel switch on the volume pot instead of the standard bypass.

I think my bass would be even better with Dual coils, I like the Dimarzio's quite a bit, the bass performs so well recorded, it sits effortlessly while still retaining its character (although there a bit noisy). Maybe Im crazy for wanting to mess with it, Still I wish I could get a little more bite out of the low end without messing with the onboard EQ too much.

Here are a few more fotos - as always click for full screen love.

The Vortex Fless is flame walnut with Lane Poor pups and a Bene pre
The Custom shop is spalt to quilt maple, with abalone blocks, Aero pups with a bart pre
The Vintage Vortex (which is one of three got to basses for me, the other two are a Ritter Roya 5 and a Sado R5/24) is pretty much your stock Bene - Bene double wides with Bene 3 band pre, pull volume for single coil at both pups.

this bass came with Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pups and Suhr pre am p. That set up was way to modern sounding for me.

I love the Big Singles, for me they do a jazz bass with more guts thing. We were able to move the bridge pickup closer to the 60's position when Carey re-routed the bass and for me that works way better. The bass now sounds very jazz like and natural. His preamp is great, as it is very natural sounding
