Show your black & tort basses

I do love how these look. Back in the 90s I had a black Jazz Bass with a tort pickguard. Just gorgeous combo.

And now here is my conundrum, ironically, I just tried a Tort pickguard on my Tony Franklin P Fretless. I just laid it on top, just to get feel. In the end I returned it, but after finding this thread I am having second thoughts. I would need to cut a slim hole for the pickup selector. In fact, I was thinking of running a poll to get feedback from TB.

Anyway, here is a picture. Did I make a mistake by returning the tort pickguard?

I don’t care for black basses. Never did. Then I found this for a really good price from a reputable store and had it shipped to me.

Sadly the truss rod was maxed out. Even a few mm of washers wouldn’t correct it. I returned it.

This one still haunts my dreams. It was an AV series from 1994. 60,62,64… I don’t recall but it had a wide thin neck.
