Personally, I think they are ugly (I LOVE UGLY )and remind me of Wishbasses in terms of that odd, funky vibe, although Carl Thompson actually puts work into his builds!
It ticks me off that Les caused them to become so popular and therefore expensive to keep demand slightly lower.
I STILL LOVE "EM TOO!
But thanks to Google....

I dont like 35" scale so the 36" is.... lol
They have very similar vibes going on.
Hopefully we both will own one.... eventually

It's actually a 37" scale. I'll probably just end up getting an uber-custom Wishbass.

A couple of locals have 4 CTs between them and I had the oppurtunity to play them. It takes a lot to amaze me and I was amazed. You really should find one to try.

Pete Hilton makes some pretty good basses too. There also a little more affordable. Thats a five string fretless to the right of the CT.

how do they compare? pete has a lot to do with what's coming out of the shop right now and honestly, i think that the basses coming out of there right now are some of the most amazing combos of ingenuity and art.

i'm also a HUGE fan of this period of carl's work...so dali-esque.

I got my carl Thompson used and got a pretty good price. I ordered the Cliff Bordwell new and LOVE IT!!! Now I just don't know which one to play more often.
