Show Your Carl Thompsons!

is that left over receipt paper from his old shop? He's in LIC now, right?

yeah. when i ordered it he couldn't find the newer ones. he's not in LIC, but a different spot than those receipts.

since my last post to this thread, i've actually picked up a replacement No-Frills (32" scale) and a Pete Hilton custom 4 (also 32" scale). the CT to me is a little bit of a better design than the Hilton, but it's really close and the Hilton I have is drop dead gorgeous. The neck is also thinner but both are cake to play. I really can't wait for my 5'er.

Charles (or any CT owners of recent CTs), if you ever want to trade/sell any of your CTs, let me know. I'd be willing to swap out my No Frills and Hilton for the right CT.

here's a few of my Hilton:

Droid, nice mini-collection, I envy you. Which scale do you prefer, or a different one for different styles?

I know this is a CT thread, but I love that Hilton, probably my favorite bass ever.

In general, the 32" for slap and soloing and the 36" for laying it down. I've also got a fretless 6 string on order...I reckon about another year and a half or two before it's done. Yeah Pete makes a fine bass!

concerning the scale length, i used to have a 36" 4 string and now have a 32" 4 string. both are a breeze to play. the 32" is definitely a faster instrument, but the piano like quality of the 36" scale is amazing. i can't wait to get my 5'er semi frills from carl. that one should be 36". I'm looking forward to comparing them. if anyone wants to sell theirs (esp the no frills 36" scale, please PM or email me...i desperately miss the 36" one i had).

going to carl's shop tomorrow to pick up my bass!!!!

i'm charging the camera batteries right now so hoping to remember it in the morning to snap some shots of what's almost done...hopefully see some of the semi-frills series and others. unfortunately, i can't really hang out long while there, but i'm bringin by my 32" No Frills and my Hilton for the fellas to give a once over (if there is time and they aren't too swamped...or heck, just for them to see their instruments again).
stay tuned...

the new one...5 String No Frills (pretty sure it's the only one)!!!! this was my 30th birthday present to myself that many family members contributed towards (including my wife and sister). we forgot to stamp a serial on it, so i'll have to bring it back to the shop for that. i wonder if carl will stamp my birthday on it? if not, i picked it up on my neice's 1st birthday, so that's just as sweet a date to get stamped.

and the trio (it pains me to say that the Hilton will likely be sold in the next few days in order to fulfill a bass-lifelong dream:
