I've seen guitars that sat in midwest attics (really hot/really cold) look like this also.

I could see how the heat would break down the molecular structure of the paint. Not so much the cold, though I could see how cold would create nice finish checking.

but you can get the "generic" ey guitar parts pickups for much cheaper, those are nearly similar sounding
