Yah, what a band! I always thought of Bungle as a group of musical anarchists. Their abilities and delivery were off the charts but their intent/sensibility was maniacal and irreverent. Their first CD ('91 - with the clown drawing on the cover) had a long section of a portable recorder document of them jumping a freight train. It cracked me up that on their debut Warner Brothers release they used a long stretch of CD playing time dedicated to no music. I keep hoping they will do a reunion show/tour.
I've got an LP of Trey's "The Three Doctors" from 1995 that was sorta' the precursor to SC3. I think he loves tapping in to his mid-eastern musical heritage.

So what is going on with the 4 holes/plugs in the area most worn? Shoring-up that spot with end-grain?

I found them in the late 80s, through a coworker who gave me a cassette with Primus' Suck On This on one side, and Bungle's demo OU818 on the other. Been an avid fan since.

As for the holes, that's some odd screw holes (thumbrests?) filled with dowel, poorly sanded, and since worn.

It's an '82 that was stripped and coated long ago, and has many miles on it. I have played it a lot since I got it, and have not babied it in any way. Have considered getting it rightly redone but that's where being broke has saved me. :) It plays great and sounds better imo.

It's a never-was bass that I created years ago based on the funky late 50's Kay SoloKing guitar. It's short scale, very light, is actually very comfortable to play and sounds pretty R&R. The SoloKing guitar was also made under another brand called "Old Craftsman", and most likely sold at Sears in the early 60's along side of Silvertones.

But the house I'm in atm has some serious EMF interference going on - the Super Twin does not like the power supply! It's more like Stupid Twin...I took it to my amp tech yesterday and we plugged it in, plugged in the bass and the amp sounded absolutely perfect. He even was impressed, and he's hard to impress. Also commented on the original GE valves...seems the seller was telling the truth re the "old Italian guy who never took it out of his lounge room and never had to service it" previous owner story!
