Same. I didn't have it either. I would mow my grandpop's yard every week for $5.00 but imediately blow it on an LP so my savings never got to that sweet Silverstone level.:). On a side note, after doing this task weekly I would always say "Oh no, no you don't have to pay me PePa." and he would be like "No, you take it, you earned it." and off to the record store we would go. One time after saying it to him he just smiled and said "Oh, ok then." and stuck the 5er back in his pocket and we drove home in silence, me recordless thinking what the heck just happened?!?! :blackeye: He taught good lessons and I miss him.

Nice spread! I like the red (looks to be pre CBS) J display on the piano! If I had a piano I'd shoot bass pics there! I don't think I've ever used those green-silk'd Fender strings (like on the P in the second pic) - I bought an '06 'Fender '51P RI new but can't remember what strings were on it. Good strings?

I actually do use those and Chromes for flats. I like them myself and they have one set that's 100/80/60/50 (on the right bass they are great) but also use the standard set. I think I like those and Chromes because they are a little on the zingy side. I don't tend to leave flats on as long as most folks I think and really like a fresh set. But the Fender flats work well for me at least.

I'll have to try a set - I tend to prefer a heavier gauge, especially for flats on a solid body.

Also on eBay - '70 J "loaded" body.

From copy:
Looks refinished by fender, relic'd
Replaced neck pickup and pickguard
Examined by Gruhn in person ...only $2500 + shipping (no affiliation) Not sure how they determine it "looks" re-finished by Fender... but good pics to go from for a future relic-job.

Nitrocellulose lacquer ambers with age, mostly due to exposer to UV rays or heat, or both. 10yrs will certainly do it and when you add yellow to blue - you get green. (or in your basses case - blue-green)

Found this on line - early '60s lefty. Nearly teal now - originally LPB.
