You usually see that hs branded Kay. I love the music-stand Kay logo on the tr cover! Obvious creative branding is what gave these instruments a certain charm.

Well, that's where I'm putting my bet at least. As a tot I remember anything that was their house brand was Pennthis and Pennthat and Pennwhatever and it has department store features that would be period correct. Something you are trying to adopt from somewhere?

No, it's a bit pricy but it's very nice.

The black P is most likely a '60s example judging the skinny black pg layer and 'tug-bar' on the G side, but the thick finish coming off so cleanly looks more like a '70s example.

That's true, didn't notice that detail - maybe it's one of those rare slab-bodied P's for UK import from '66. They came with blk/wt/blk pg's in early '66 and tortoise-shell in late '66, so if that is one it might have a non-original pg.

I doubt it was sitting in water - a few other factors can lead to the that result.
