[God's Favorite Bass]

I’m looking at this bass for sale not far from me and I’m a bit concerned with the long cracks in the finish that go with the wood grain. To me, it doesn’t look very good but I trust you guys’ opinions on this stuff so if anyone has an opinion on the potential problems here, please opine on this ‘69.

To me, it looks worse than simple finish checking.

That don't scare me. I ain't afraid of no ghosts. I'd be cool with it.

Very stylized "relic" job - reminds me of Fenders 'Road Worn' finishes...

I really want to like the sigger’s. It does resemble the roadworn finishes which I do like. However, the burst undercoat is a little too perfect in this example. Does it look like a poly finish to anyone else?

Whatever it is, it is too clean/calculated and because of that not believable. It's like a computer designed it and a machine distressed it. I don't know the inside info on how Fender does their Road Worn finishes, whether it's actually done by people or a machine, but they all look pretty much the same.

Here’s mine! It’s a modified Fender Jaguar bass, the paint is Rustoleum’s “Gamma Green” over the original Hot Rod Red. Wear is courtesy of Father Time and gigging.

(It’s also a color shifting finish! Shame the color got discontinued!)

So they sell a rattle-can version of flip-flop paint? If done by a pro (like Pat Wilkins) it's an expensive paint-job as the product itself is very expensive.
