Understandable. I bought a '52 International's three-quarter ton pu in the mid '70s and my dad said I better have respect for it being older than I was!
(not mine but very much like it) ...what a beast!

Do you have details on the gold Jazz? It appears to be a late '65 as it has pops but no neck binding. Quite a looker.

Meanwhile in Brexitannia...the 74 Madrid Special has just landed. Many thanks to the individual who put a lot of time into distressing this finish.
Well I did notice a sanding spot through the colored peg head that I'm guessing was a light cig burn at some point. I would have left it as they don't bug me. Actually the opposite as they are a reminder of a bygone era. The ones that bug me are the cookie cutter, soldering iron induced ones on the RW series. Not believable at all. It is - I also dig the red Coronado - never played one and they are out of my price range but I have always like them. In the short time they were produced, there were a few different bridges/tail-pieces they came with. I like that version. My fave finish would be a Wildwood (dyed wood while growing), or Antiqua. I'm seriously considering having Pat Wilkins do this version of Antigua on my latest Italian retro-inspired custom bass. Antigua is one of those colours that has been 'interpreted' in many different ways since it was introduced in the late CBS/Fender '60s. This image/example is Antigua to my eyes.
There are two basses I lost out on when I had the cash but was looking for something else. One was an all original Antigua Fender P for £400. The reissues were more than that!! I LOVE that finish!

Me too - but the more recent Fender RI version is far from ideal. It looks green and weird.

Whew! I discovered this thread about a month ago, and it's taken that long to digest it! I even slowed down over the last week because I didn't want the joys to end. Thanks to @JIO for keeping things civil and to stalwart contributors like @God's Favorite Bass and so many others. This thread must be the greatest compendium of bass porn in the world.
Here's all I can offer personally: A 2005 '62 AVRI that's been my #1 over that time. It's had a Jazz neck and the same La Bella flats since 2006. I've never cleaned the body.
