That is very cool - but a banana-shaped neck would be a deal-breaker for me. Especially if it's been that way for decades. Never heard of Kapa - made in the USA. I wonder what scale it is - if I had to guess I'd say med-scale. It appears to be LPB amber'd to a cool jade green.

But it has a rod you can trust! yeah I didn't read the description, that should maybe make it cheaper lol. I guess it'd make a fancy boat paddle in a pinch though. fwiw I've never heard of that maker either.

When I consider purchasing one of these gems, the neck has to be very close to straight. Everything else can be fixed. Many years ago I bought an '80s G&L 5-string. It arrived with a bowed neck (not mentioned in the eBay sale description~) Before deciding to send it back, I took it to SF master luthier Gary Brawer (one of the top luthiers in the US) to get his opinion on attempting to fix it. He described what could be done but said that wood that has been bowed for many years - all attempts at straightening it are iffy at best. For the cost and chance it would return to the bow - he recommended having a new neck made. Back it went.

So...I have never searched "non-functioning" bass guitars, until I saw your Crispy Cherry. There are some unique offerings. Here's one 'looks right up the alley.

I generally try and find the worst possible candidates because I like the challenge. That said condition plays a big factor in what I will pay for something too. Funky looking for sure! I like the ogee contour on the body, and the color and finish are killer me thinks. Could be a full neck rebuild though.

My '57 Precision that that I got from the Atlanta Rhythm Section's Paul Goddard back in 1980. It has quite a history prior to Paul switching to Rickenbacker(s). I only gigged with it once before getting a new matching AVRI one for the obvious "safety" reason. The letter that Paul sent me right after purchasing the '57 from him was very nice of him. RIP Paul!!
