Not that I'm aware of. I only know of an American politician who played bass but I refrain from expressing my opinion of him as it is against tb rules to engage in political discussions.

That's exactly what I had in mind when I started this thread 10yrs ago (!) - a source library of pictorial examples of the subject. I also have worked on/own a few un-common basses, which are always a bit like time-traveling.

I hated the white pick guard (it’s a thing, I hate white pick guards as a rule) I cut that Black pick guard out by hand yesterday, Bakelite is a nightmare to work with, but it’s period correct for 1955. Not a perfect cut out, but I’ve seen a lot worse. As beat up (Loved) as the finish is in general, I doubt anyone will notice.
