SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

Yes, you guessed it. Their 2 months estimate turned into almost 4 months, but it was worth it.

Was that during Covid? They did one for me pre-Covid and it was about a month.

I added more recently -I was imitating Guy Pratt's lovely BMM '64 J

I got my bass back from them about a month ago. Sweet bass you have btw!

Thanks! Heavily modded/chambered 22 fret '93 American Standard J - Fender-Kubicki 9v pre, Schallar 3D bridge, Nordstrand NJ4 pu's, Schallar Deluxe sculpted-paddle F branded tuners, mint pearl pg... only thing original is the body & neck!

I am only posting this to show an example of a comically bad "relic'd" finish. Posted on eBay as "vintage relic '66-'68 Jazz bass" ... ($258 + $25 shipping - new from China)

They didn't quite get the fake early spaghetti-logo Fender hs decal cropped-out... I like the crocked picture, hint of plants and crooked lamp composition.

...or maybe they shifted it to make the bass straight... (note fake Fender decal is now out of frame) Also note nude bridge ashtray (no F) and wacky positioning of the tug-bar.

Anyone can buy a Fender Corona California neck-plate. Yah, that looks authentic... not. I know - shooting ducks in a barrel, but I just want septics to see the difference between a well executed relic finish.., and this.

On eBay from Japan - again, just smiling at the rough translations (not mocking)

Item description from the seller

It is a USA jazz bass about 30 years ago.
It was originally a white body, but it has turned yellow over time.
Although it is subjective to the last, there are color burn marks, etc., but you can feel a rather bitter vintage feeling.*
Player condition.
There are marks , scuff marks, and sticker sunburn marks as shown in the image, but probably there are no any fatal marks.**
The case is original, but the lock is deteriorated and it is quite worn out.
It is a vintage item.
Weight about 4.4kg / 9.7 lbs.
Feeling of use such as marks or deteriorated, etc. are seen, but there is no problem in normal use.
All the parts are shown in the photo.
There are marks due to normal used
Please inspect images for condition reference.

*Rather bitter feeling at a distressed finish is understandable to some here.

** but probably there are no any fatal marks - phew!
