OK, before I start, please refrain from posting your opinion of how you feel about distressed finishes right out of the gate. I am so not interested and there are other threads to vent your opinions so please, read on and decide if you would like to contribute.

What I am simply requesting are pics of any bass or guitar that has a distressed finish. It might be your bass or a picture you might have downloaded of a distressed bass or guitar. It can be a real 'time and use' induced distressing, or your own DIY cosmetic "relic" job. I will not judge the DIY finishes and would like posters to refrain from pot-shots or boring, opinionated dissertations on "fake mojo" regarding a DIY distressed finish. I just want as many examples of distressing (real or effected) as possible. Please keep the "dis" out of distressing.

Also, I don't want pics of a Fender Road Worn bass, even if your own. I know you are proud of them and good on you, but I can find pics of those all over the web.

I'm hoping to see the spectrum of instruments that have been played hard and put away wet. The better the pics the better. For me I think about Nels Clines' beloved '59 Jazzmaster, Stevie Ray Vaughns' Strat, Billy Sheehans' "wife", and Mike Watts' EB-3 when I think of beautiful battered and bruised war-horses.

Luckily none of my '60s basses or cases smelled like an ashtray when I bought them. My '68 Coral Deluxe Bass HSC smelled musty - but no nicotine. That kind of 'mojo' I can do without.

I can still smell the faint aroma of smoke, and even the cologne that I wore in the 80s, but it's definitely faint.

Nice pic. Cleaning, UV rays (sunlight) and fresh air helps dissipate aromas.

It's had plenty of sunshine in the years since I last played in smokey bars or smoked myself, but I've never cleaned it other than guitar polish. This photo was only 12 years ago.

I played my '64 Thunderbird II in smoky bars in the '80s in Chicago and it has no trace of nicotine now. So it does dissipate.
