A little gift that literally just fell into my stocking for christmas!

Nothing too flashy here, just a sweet playing workhorse bass.
A vague history reveals this is a squire deluxe active bod
married to a mighty mite fender licensed neck
Badass bridge string thru back of neck pro-sanded and fast
Supposedly put together and set up at gibson here in nashville.
Strung with DR lo riders stainless...stock(i suppose?!?) pickups.
Plays like butter.....or gravy even......

traded a 350$ kurzweil synth for it on christmas eve

Good point, and one of the reasons I prefer the passive single-coils. Do those vintage '62s still come with the brass ground plates?



Yes, position is part of it, but also the pickups on the P-bass from 1957 on are humbuckers. Yeah, I would cut the volume on the bridge pickup for that P-bass tone, and the pickup is close enough to where the P-bass pickup should be to get a similar tone.



LOL! More wear and tear then you know! There isn't much left of it. We played a private party in a friend's yard a number of years ago, he had a stage set up and everything, right next to the barn and various left over bits and pieces of vehicles. I think there was even a small bus there. Those kinds of shows are always fun, much more relaxed.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the brass plates. They have cloth wire and it looks like non-flush magnets...don't know about the plates though.

Understood about the P pickup tone.

Ok Bro... here's my prized possession. Body was damaged in the early 80's and I had my guitar tech make me the Hog/Maple body. Nice, deep cutaway. Orig. Badass w/brass saddles and bridge.
70's OBL P-90 pickups really give ya that Jazz Honk. Like Tommy Shannon to the "T". I keep it in Eb just for the SRV covers at gigs...
Been thinking on a real replacement body once I sell the '74 Ric.

I love my 2008 Jazz V, but this 2003 American Series is my favorite bass period. It has a Hipshot drop tuner and Lindy Fralin Split-Jazz pickups. (Pic with Strat taken for recent "Matching Bass and Guitar" thread.)

This is my favorite Jazz Bass - a 1965 in Olympic White with a matching headstock. I've had it since 1977.

fwiw this is the 3rd or 4th mid-80's California-built Schecter Jazz clone I've played, and they are consistently some of the most impressive passive basses I've ever touched.
