SHOW YOUR G&L'S!!!!

Instead of starting a new thread for the sole purpose of being in the middle of new-bass-day, I'll add it here.

Just snagged this (probably) early 2000s US L-2000, with matching headstock and D-Tuner, for 500$ CAN.

Blueburst wouldn't have been my first choice of finish had I ordered it, but the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. The awesome growl keeps me from thinking about the color anyways :D

And to finish, any idea what are those strings ? I will probably not change them right away and would like to know. They are roundwounds, with purple silk at both ends. The 4 balls are brass-colored.

Required proof of existence :

Nice! You got a great deal, looks like an ebony board too.

The strings look like Dean Markley, don't know which variety, but not Blue Steels because those have blue silk.

Thanks for the input on the strings, I'll look into it. Not a life/death question, but I like to know what I'm playing :p

As for the board, definitely looks like ebony now that you say it. I did not know it was an option on G&Ls. I don't have enough experience with different woods/basses to tell for sure but it certainly doesn't look like most rosewood boards I saw.

Here are 2 closeups of the board, I'm pretty sure most of you guys can tell from that :

Agreed, they look just like the Smith strings I installed on an old Harmony this morning.

Annnnnd thanks to both of you, I think we have it.

Hey, Sandvich Hero, where are you in Montreal? I'm in NDG.

Joh

In the last 3 years, been in DDO, Ho-Ma, and now Ville-Émard (not necessarily an improvement :p)

My latest - a minty US SB-1 with plenty of figuring/grain in the maple neck/fretboard. Decent weight and great MFD split-coil grunt with some SIT Power Flats on it. Part of my long-term project to replace my Tributes with US G&Ls when I find the right one ;). This takes the slot of my Trib SB-2 in my lineup.

Next in line for upgrade is the Trib JB-2 . . .
