This is my new Modulus, it's black 3 band EQ Aguilar with basslines pickups(I'll prefer it with lane poors, but it's great anyway!) 2005, and doesn't has the matching headstock.
I'm thinking of keeping it my whole life, and putting Lane Poors if I can find, wish me luck

Here is my Modulus VJ Deluxe. It has the AAAA quilted maple top, sienna finish. I had my local luthier, Craig Landau, replace the Bart 2-band pre with a U-Retro Deluxe. He routed a new battery compartment (the battery used to be in the main compartment, but it wouldn't fit with the U-Retro), and drilled holes for the switches. The switches are black and the knobs chrome, which matches nicely the black graphite neck and chrome hardware. It also has a Hipshot Xtender key installed. The only thing is I think I'd prefer the sound of a wooden fingerboard.... 
I'm curious what everyone thinks of the graphite neck/chechen fingerboard versus the graphite phenolic versus the genesis neck with chechen fingerboard. 
I had a Genesis 5 string, but I traded it for a really sweet Kinal bass, so I know what the Genesis are like. But I prefer the Modulus jazz basses to their other models, although I do like the Flea...

A bit off topic but how would you all describe the feel of modulus necks? I have never tried a graphite neck but am considering buying a 2nd hand VJ without having played it, how do the necks compare to standard american J necks? From the pics I've seen it doesn't seem to have a truss rod which worries me a bit.

They don't require truss rods because the necks are super stable and don't move due to weather changes. At least, I think that's why.

The neck feels great. Just the same dimensions as a '75 jazz. The newer Modulus basses do have truss rods. They are two-way, correcting both back or forward bow. My personal bass has a gloss neck. If and when I sell this bass I'll most likely buy another VJ, but I'll have it done custom exactly the way I want. This one is really close, and the U-Retro Deluxe upgrade was a HUGE improvement from the stock Bart preamp. Also, the 5A quilted maple top is breathtaking.
