Though I will never come anywhere near the previous rig of doom post...my actual rig of doom spews out actual doom-metal!

Ampeg SVTIIP Pre, Mackie 1400i power amp, and two 8 ohm Ampeg SVT410's. I've since added a 4 ohm Aggie 2x12 and a dbx 160A...and always have some sort of fuzz or overdrive going into the whole thing. Mmmm...doooooom...

:ninja: It's the best sounding cabinet I've ever heard... bar none! But it doesn't do that Geddy / Wetton / Squire / Pinnick nasty tube stuff (or Scofield to Stern to Schon to all my other guitar heroes)

The 1820 is being gutted of everything but the 18" (which will run full range... it handles 35Hz to 1.6KHz). I'm replacing the 10" and crossover with a 100 Hz Highpass hooked to a Weber ceramic Chicago 10" and an 800 Hz Highpass hooked to a Weber ceramic Texas 10". The Texas is a rippin' early breakup hand made guitar driver. The Chicago is a later breaking "Crunchy and Punchy" hand made guitar driver. www.tedweber.com under "High Power" in the speaker section.

This is being put together for my 7 string Bee strung B-E-A-D-G-B-E that I intend to use for bass AND guitar type Invalid Link Removed

Oh and I'm also changing the cosmetics to include a metal grill and tweed :bassist:

Sounds cool, James! Good to see you are getting the equipment to get your sound out. That is the only drawback to my set up, I get a lot of good clean power, but just missing a little hair. I want it to sometimes be a little hairy, not as hairy as Geddy (I was watching "Exit Stage Left" last night an marvelling at his tone) but almost. I think I may want to get a tube mic pre to warm the signal a bit.
