Though the question is no directed to me, I think I just share my experience with the Aguilar OBP in my Spector Euro.
I had 3 Spector EURO5's, all with stock EMG pu's, however each had different preamps. One had the EMG BQS, the other had the stock TonePump the Jade Dragon has the Aguilar OBP1. For my taste and ears the Agu is the best sounding, followed by the EMG and the least favourable is the TonePump. I had A-B tested them, so I have the experience.
Even if the OBP 1 is boost only, it makes the bass sounding 'better' without altering the sound itself.

Cool, thanks. I just might go ahead and try so. Like Matt says, the TonePump does work out well in a busy mix but that's about it. I have an OBP-1 somewhere and in a few weeks the OBP-3 from my Modulus Q6 will be available since I'll put Q-tuners (without pre-amp) in it. So I can just go ahead and try I guess Does anyone know if the knobs on the Spector are also available in stacked configuration? My OBP-3 has the bass and treble stacked, but I like the knobs on the Spector very much.

no, not for free but I do get a very nice discount.

How is the OBP-3 working for you? I'm considering putting one in my Spector as well.

I'm loving it. Having the mid control, plus the ability to tame down the highs once in awhile, is very nice. It still retains that classic "Spector sound", but is just much more flexible now.

I haven't regretted swapping the preamps one bit.

I agree, though I just have the OBP-1, the tone of my bass is just fantastic. I've never been particularly impressed with the TonePump. It does its job, but I think it's not nearly to the same quality of the Spector basses themselves.

Yep. IMHO, the preamp in my Euro 5 was its weakest link--merely "adequate".
