If i remember correctly, that bass was for sale on craigslist here in SC, I think the Greenville area, and I posted the link for it on here. Did you get it from there? It definitely is a sweet bass, and it was going for a good price.

That bass is awesome!! When where Spector make ash bodied basses and finishes like that? Is it custom?

This in my Refinished project rebop the original finish was pretty nasty. I upgraded the electronics to a 18v EMG BTS system, a CS in the bridge and a DC in the neck.
I used Behlens master gel for the refinish and could not be happier with the way it turned out.

I sanded the the old oil finish off with 220 then 320 grit paper. Then applied 3 coats of Behlens master gel using 0000 fine steel wool between coats.

Time for updates. For the first time since owning a bass, I decided to make some hardware, and more incredibly, pickup changes.

I ordered some Dimarzio Model J's as well as some AllParts black dome knobs. It was quite the adventure with my first attempt at soldering. Somehow, both pickups work, so I'm not going to question it Originally I had Dimarzio Ultra Jazz's in there. Both pickups sound pretty great. I like the Model J's because they have a little less high end zing and a little more midrange growl.

I think the new metal knobs looks a little classier than the plastic knobs that come on Spector's.

That would look so much better with black hardware IMO. I LOVE the body wood. Simply incredible.

Yeah, I am not a fan of the gold hardware. Putting the gold knobs on it after the preamp swap didn't help matters any--Oops.

But, I guess since gold is what it came with, that's what I'm stuck with.
