National Golden Retriever day I guess, I just heard.
2 of my grandpups are goldens, Pacha is golden and golden-mix, Cece is purebred. Both amazingly good pups. Both are foster fails and we're glad that my son and daughter in law kept them.

Those golden's sure are beautiful dogs. It's no surprise they are so popular. My daughter really wanted one but they don't show up at rescues too often and we always get rescue cats and dogs so we ended up with a sweet mutt with some german shepherd in her for sure, not sure what else, that is well loved and part of the family for the last 2 years.

Both of these came from Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin https://grrow.org/ They were originally going to foster rather than get a dog of their own and now they own two!

When I get home from school I usually sit and read for a while. Lilo will often go and sit by the chair I sit in to read and wait for some chest scratches.

It's a tradition for us. For a long time we couldn't have a dog of our own, as my wife and I both worked long hours, so our daughter and I used to go dog-walking at the shelter together. I'm only working part-time now, so we finally got our own pup, but we still enjoy going to take the dogs at the shelter out. There are no kill shelters here, so some of the big, older dogs stay there for years. One or two have spent their entire lives there. The shelter is on the outskirts of town, right beside around 100 acres of forest and fields, so we take the dogs out for a long walk of an hour or two so that they don't spend all their time in their cages. Our biggest problem is that we get attached to the dogs and want to bring them all home, but we celebrate whenever one of them gets adopted. Often, the new owners take pictures and post them to the shelter's Facebook page.
I went for a run with Ron this morning.
