Nah bro, the human spirit has far more resilience than that. It's your depth of feeling and emotion that will draw you towards another critter and makes for the perfect companion.
And having a pup to play with, walk, care for, get affection from, bond with and generally have a responsibility to is a gift and a blessing. It makes every day better and fills the physical blood line and spirit with life force energy and love. Only good comes from it - only good.

And there are a LOT of rescues waiting for their forever homes. I've got 3. Wish I could handle more.
Agreed. I have always had rescued dogs. Due to his bad start in life my current dog does not get on with others so it would not be fair on either him or the other dog, if I were to get another.
Speaking of rescued dogs : I always dread January and February when the novelty wears off the now unwanted four legged Christmas "gifts" and in a lot of cases they are dumped along with the household gift packaging.
If only there were more people in the world like those on this forum.
We have had Maggie for about 6 weeks now and she is becoming more and more our dog after the rescue. My daughter likes to take pic of her in "different" situations! LOL

thank you. Yes literally a 1/3 of my life because I just turned 50.
This was the last picture taken. I laid him out on the grassy hill by our pond he loved to swim in and sat with him for awhile until we left.

Back in the day, when I slept on a futon on the floor... My dog Joshu mastered the art of moving in almost microscopic increments, gradually going from "fully on the floor" to "fully on the bed" without ever visibly moving
