We had to say goodbye yesterday to this good boy, Odie. He was having some balance issues on Saturday, and they found a mass in his liver. Letting him go was one of the most difficult things we've ever had to do, but I'm glad we got to be with him when he passed. He knew we were sad, and my wife held him the whole time. We rescued him, gave him a good life, and he loved us. And most of all, we loved him dearly. Our son Stephen was totally distraught over it since we've had Odie since Stephen was 9 years old. We're all wrecked today, still. We will miss you dearly, Odie! :crying:

Thanks to everyone for your heartfelt comments. My wife is really having a hard time with it. Odie was a momma's boy, and it's the little things that were part of his routine that are still getting her now and then. :(
Understand that.
I randomly got teary eyed throughout my day for several weeks after Loki was gone.
After having them with you 24/7 for more than a decade, the attachment is pretty strong.
Give Momma twenty extra hugs this week....will be good for you too. :)

It’s hard but love them.
Seems as I've gotten to be an old man, I'm getting softer and more emotional.
I would get another dog but I'll be 79 when it dies and I'm not sure I can deal with that.
So, I am enjoying neighbors dogs and my daughters dog, kind of like grand-kids...all the enjoyment without the full commitment of parenthood.

Jesus. I’ve contemplated this very thought tonight. GET ANOTHER COMPANION. People love you. You have them to care for your loved one of you can’t. You need it. DO IT. I’m going to. I need two dogs in my life.
I’m only 50

If i didn't have my 3 dogs in bed with me at night, I'd be sleeping alone. I have PTSD and am 0 for 3 on wives. Dogs keep me sane and emotionally alive. Absolutely, positively can't live without them. My only remaining source of stress is what happens to them if I don't wake up one morning. I've still gotta work on that.

See you on the other side, Cash. Hugs and kisses. Time to post this pic yet again. Too many times the last few days. So much heartbreak.

Man... that white running horse gets me every time.
