That is great. I'd love to see the next 30 seconds. Because it looks like as soon as it gets out the other dog chases the cat and the savior takes off after it too. So I wonder if it was a save or if the dogs were trying to retrieve their plaything...

I don't think a dog with a high prey drive is going to jump into water to help out unless it's mouth first around the cats neck.

A sighthound might have a go with the cat if it takes off running but many are fine with small dogs and cats. Mine on the other hand was not so good with cats. That's how he earned his name, Chase.

Kind of funny story. We have two dogs now - our bulldog, and our son's beagle. Son is at college, so the beagle is with us, and both dogs sleep in our bed. Now that our son is home for the semester break, the beagle can't decide which is "her" bed, so she splits the night going up and down the stairs, trying to keep everyone happy - which of course means she is up during the night being a PIA.

One who does let my dog in bed here. Some "pros" recommend against for all the usual reasons. My personal view is no harm done and we're all the happier.

Noted that other cultures think very differently about dogs, including what's for dinner.

Not going to try saying "no" to mine.

One under the covers. One on top. And one mummied up in an old comforter in the corner of the room.

Life is good.

I do have to keep my pillow in the closet, lest it becomes a day bed.

Some "pros" recommend against for all the usual reasons.

It never even occurred to me until about 20 years ago.. I made some friends who let their dogs sleep with them.
I brought my first stray home (in 1964) when I was six....
Things were very different then, we didn't have leash laws, nobody spay/neutered their dogs or cats, many dogs were tied up outdoors much of the time or in outdoor kennels.
When I was a kid, I thought our dogs and cats had the good life to be able to come in the house whenever they wanted to.

We still don't allow dogs in our bed for the reasons that the pros give, but there's a comfy dog bed with soft fleece blankets in half the rooms in our house so a soft place to lay down near wherever the rest of the pack is.

We just got home with this little boy Cheuey (Jesus).
We are babysitting him until January 3rd, he just finished a nice three mile woods hike with Loki, Me and Mary (the wife).

Dogs are so awesome!

Reasonably certain not all animals might agree on their opinions of humans.

As a child I was raised to always see to your animal's needs before your own. Still follow that guidance and suffered no ill effect

Probably not. But this is the, "Spoiled Dog" thread so it seems that a high percentage of dogs do sleep on the bed.
That said, I am a lot more concerned about catching bad things in a public bathroom than my dog laying on the bed.
