Just back from ambling the Bugs. On the way I came across a couple trying desperately to keep a stupidoodle off the busy road where not 2 minutes earlier I saw a possum bite Bridgestone. Whatcha gonna do?

Well the first thing is get on the same footpath and get young Winston's attention. Then head down a quiet side street. Next is the bit where I sit on a fence and wait. All the while trying to talk Mrs Doodle out of putting the foot down. He's not coming in until he's sure we're having more fun than he is.

Ended up going back to Winston's house. Bugsy had to play with him on the nature strip, go in his house and eat his food. All to tempt him indoors. Best walk ever.

And still got back in time to watch the news.

This dog. She's had a rough go with reactivity for the last year/year and a half. She's started Prozac, and hopefully that will help with her training/conditioning. She's the sweetest damn dog ever, and she's taught me a lot about compassion and patience with this thing. We'll get there.

Keep up the good work. My daughter and her husband adopted a dog during COVID that turned out to be hyper-afraid of people and contact. They did intensive training including using a pro trainer, and added medication. Two years later he's not a "run to meet you" dog, he keeps to himself when visitors are around, but he's good company for their family and a nice guy.
