The one that followed after the above one was funny too, a keeshond that shows up when Chopin is played.

One of our keeshonden used show up too when the piano was played, but he used to bark with certain high notes.

Otto blew out his ACL yesterday. Big dog - expensive surgery. Looks like it has a high success rate, though. Please keep the big lug in your thoughts and hearts. He goes in for surgery Thursday.

Our Freddy went through that last winter. You'll be surprised at how fast he recovers - your biggest problem will be keeping him off it for the entire recovery period

Very cool. I've never known one (met a couple) and they strike me as really interesting dogs. I've had sighthounds, who are wired totally differently. The only scenthounds I've really known have been beagles and bassets, and I suspect that bloodhounds are rather unique in their personalities.

Indeed.
She never quite figured out she's a dog. Rather a four legged human.
Early on she'd catch a scent and run off on us, then we'd spend an hour or more trying to find her. She's mellowed out as she's gotten older to where we can walk her around our house (we live out in the woods) without a leash. When we go anywhere new, we always keep her on a leash.
She does have an established routine of when she wakes up and when she goes to bed and let's us know when we don't keep up.

My keeshond Chase likes to come into the living room and listen when I am playing nylon-string guitar, or electric bass guitar or EUB, even if I'm only using headphones, no cab. Shows how phenomenal their hearing is.

Took Otto the Big Lug in for his surgery today. Specialist vet seems competent and caring. He's in good hands. We should know how he's doing by mid-afternoon, and he will (hopefully) come home tomorrow.

We are working Kona (Golden Retriever) through scent training. We are just getting started on level 3. He is super into it and it is really interesting to watch him work. There is a lot more going on in that fuzz head than I would ever have guessed.

So, I took him to his first comp. My wife had been to a bunch of training sessions and kinda knew the ropes and was familiar with the vibe... me, not so much... In between heats I congregated with a group and my dark side took over... I mentioned that Kona had 2 ribbons already. One for being able to find any cadaver smelling of goose poop, the other for being able to find any bomb shaped like a dog's butt. Did I mention the humorless side of scent training? if the stares had been checks, I coulda filled in quite a few blanks ;-)

Yep, only goes out on a leash for several weeks.
He's at the specialist vet. Goes into surgery about 11. Hopefully they can remove the tumor and do the knee both, but whatever it is, it is.
