My trans wine '78 Jazz

It looks very nice. Why the pickup choices? A little Billy Sheehan influence, or just wanted a P sound and a 70's Tele sound?

Kindda both...
I don't like Billy Sheehan (not a fan at all), but i always wanted a deep bottom-end on a P-bass, then i saw his "The Wife" bass, and i thought "that's a great idea!".

I also like very much the Gibson EB-series tone, with that humbucker on the neck. So it was all 'win', you know?

Alright, I know this thread pretty much died last month. HOWEVER, I thought that an update would be in order. I'm only 98.3% sure about this so if something comes along and blows me out of the water I would consider changing it. SO the color of choice for my swamp ash jazz build is going to be...

(drum roll please)

a transparent Rick-inspired fireglo with a matching headstock. :bassist:

It should be an interesting color on a Fender styled Jazz but we will see how it goes. I still need to decide neck wood (which will probably be rosewood) and pickguard color, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. Suggestions are always welcome btw. ;)

I will post pics when it's done, but to be honest that probably won't be till sometime in June or July. BUT AGAIN, I WILL POST WHEN THE DEED IS DONE. This thread will probably be dead by then (if it comes back to life), but I always finish what I start, so I will see you gentlemen and gentleladies whenever this baby's done. Or to comment. Either way.

You know, I'm actually gonna ask for recommendations here. As far as the fireglo theme goes here what color pickguard should I go with? Everything else is going to be chromed out of course.

Also, should I go rosewood or maple or any other specific fretboard wood with this? I'm not too concerned with the subtle differences between the woods, but I want to know what other TBers think.
