I've posted it before, but I don't get new basses everyday.

AV64?!!!????!!!!!

No, it is a labor of love custom build; Dan Ransom (SF) dot & bound early '66 J neck (gorgeous Honduras rw) to 1960 J neck specs, Fender MIM Oly Wht '64 body, Fender everything else including Super 88 Split-coil pu's and custom pops - exquisite neck finishing by Pat Wilkins - La Bella flats w/light foam at the bridge under the strings - (I can die now :smug:)

I DIG IT!

I DIG IT!

The early '66 dot/bound/pops was a long time focus for me. Fender Japan produced a RI but few made it to the US. Couldn't justify (or afford!) the cost of a vintage one so I assembled my own. The custom (Plek'd) neck is where the rubber meets the road.
note: I realized I typed Super 88's (maybe I was hearing "Rocket 88"!) --- it's Fender Super 55's (split-coils)

tight. I'm going to do something similar--but not as nice as yours--with a Squier VM. The poor man's version.

For me it was about relieving gas at an acceptable/resonable level of expense. As an actual '66 would inherently have "cred/value" and I fully acknowledge how cool it would be but I seriously doubt that it would be exponentially better than mine (looking or playing) Plus I no longer dwell on wanting one. Your Squier VM will be every bit as cool! (be sure to post pics!)

I am looking for a Hagstrom HBII, white, solid-body bass similar to the one in the image, circa 1960's. Is there such a thing somewhere out there?
